Since this whole Covid-19 pandemic started I've been nostalgic about my past travels, and the need to leave on adventures has never been greater. I miss wandering around new places and discovering new cultures and food. Unfortunately, my travel plans for this summer have been canceled and I have no idea when I'll actually get back on a plane.

I've been nostalgic about Paris, France a lot lately and since I am not going anywhere, at least for now, I decided to bring a little piece of Paris to me. I had only tasted macarons once in my life, and it wasn't good at all. The cookie was hard and didn't taste fresh at all, so I wanted to try some again. Even though last August I had the opportunity to visit Paris and had the chance to taste 'real' macarons, I put it off until later and eventually forgot about them... It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I found this place in Montreal, called La Boutique Point G, that I decided to try them again with my best friend Rita.

We got a box of 12 flavors to try; 2 Coffees, 2 Hazelnuts, 2 Dark Chocolates, 1 Pistachio, 1 Crème Brûlée, 1 Bailey's, 1 Vanilla, 1 Caramel Chocolate, 1 Caramel Fleur de Sel and this is my review of them. (This review is based on my personal taste only and won't apply to everyone obviously)

For starters, the overall quality of the macarons was perfect and it deserves a score of 10/10. The texture was amazing. They were soft, creamy, chewy and just the right amount of sweetness. I understand why many people love this place and these treats so much!

As for the flavors, we first tried the Pistachio one in honor of Blair Waldorf. For those who love Pistachios, it's perfect, but for me who doesn't like the flavor as much, I gave it a 5/10.

The Vanilla macaron smelt like Birthday Cake flavor and tasted like it too. I was pleasantly surprised and I loved it. 10/10

Then the Dark Chocolate one smelt like the Fudgee O cookies from the Christie brand, and it was good even though there was nothing spectacular about it. 9/10

.

As for their limited time Bailey flavored macaron, it was the worst for us. It tasted too much like alcohol so 2/10.

I didn't really know what to expect for the Crème Brûlée macaron as I only had the actual Crème Brûlée dessert once in my life and didn't remember what it tasted like. I found that the macaron tasted too much like caramel, but maybe that's normal? 6/10

Hazelnut tasted like Nutella, but less sweet than the actual spread itself. 10/10

The Chocolate Caramel was good too, but it tasted too much of caramel than chocolate in my opinion. 7/10

Each bite into the Caramel Fleur de Sel was salty and left me with an aftertaste of caramel. It was too salty for me and there was not enough caramel to balance out the flavors. 5/10

The Coffee was by far the best. I had high expectations for this one and it did not disappoint. For those who know what a Coffee Crips candy bar tastes like, it's basically that but with more focus on the coffee taste. 10/10

Here's my overall rating of the flavors

9. Bailey's

8. Pistachio

7. Caramel Fleur de Sel

6. Crème Brûlée

5. Caramel Chocolate

4. Dark Chocolate

3. Hazelnuts

2. Vanilla

1. Coffee

I highly recommend others who are fans of macarons to try out the ones from La Boutique Point G. They make amazing macarons and I can't wait to go back and try some more.
